Transportation and its environmental implications has been a long time passion of mine. Being born in Mexico City and growing up in LA with a car dominated society attracted my focus in reinventing the way we move around. This has taken the form of developing cleaner forms of transportation or just moving around in a egg shaped car!
I have been working in the transportation industry since my junior year of highschool. My first project in this field was converting a Volkswagen bug to run on electricity. This project was part of an after school club call Team Marine that focused in spreading awareness of climate change and potential solutions. I spent two years working closely with experts in the field to make this project a reality.
During the summer between my junior and senior year of highschool I interned at a startup company called Trexa. This company focused on developing an electric vehicle platform where different modules could be placed on top of the base unit. For this company I constructed a remote controller in order to operate the platform without a module attachment!
While my undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine I started the first hyperloop competition team. We won fifth place in the SpaceX Hyperloop competition design weekend. We then went on to improve and materialize our hyperloop design, building a scale model for the first hyperloop pod competition that took place at the SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorn. Today the hyperloop team at UCI continues to be highly selective and ranked the number one undergraduate project on campus.
My latest project in the transportation sector is a combination between engineering and art. I took a trip to Catalonia where I was inspired by Salvador Dali and his egg scupltures that are sprinkled around his garden. I want to take this rich symbol of an egg and apply my background of transporation to make a fun project.
Below are some links that will take you deeper into the individual projects described above.
